Nice-cream: healthy icream

05.24.19

Prep:

Start this recipe the night before in order to chop up your fruits and to allow them time enough to freeze.

What you'll need:

2 frozen bananas

3 frozen strawberries

2 handfuls of frozen blueberries

5 scoops of plain greek yogurt

1/4 cup of almond milk

2 teaspoons of honey

Food processor or a powerful blender

Directions

Begin with regular room temperature fruits. Peel and slice the bananas then put them in the feezer. Cut the stems off the strawberries and cut the strawberries in half and proceed to put them in the freezer. I bought a small box of blueberries from the store and I recommend you wash them off in the container they come in then place them in the freezer. Let all of your fruit sit overnight to properly freeze.

Come back the next day and whip out your food processor or powerful blender. Begin with placing your fruits in the food processor and add a small amount of almond milk (I recommend beginning with 1/4 cup as you can always add more, but you cannot go back if you make the mistake of making a liquidy creation). Once your creation is halfway blended you can add your scoops of yogurt, honey, and more milk if needed. Blend until it is fully mixed together and you will be left with a sweet, healthy, creamy ice-cream!

Substitutions and Additions

If the fruits I used in my recipe are not your favorite, you can always swap them out for others, but I do recommend keeping the bananas as they give a good base for creaminess. You can have fun with this simple recipe and add protein powder, collagen, or even a superfood green powder!

I personally love this recipe because I have a sweet tooth and it perfectly satisfies my needs for sweets in a healthy way! (I even eat it for breakfast sometimes, and how often can you eat ice-cream for breakfast?

~Sincerely, Mariee
